06/09/10 - Club AGM

The Club AGM will be taking place on Thursday, Sept 30th. This is your chance to voice your opinion on how the club is being run. If you want your say then turn up on the night. If you would like to volunteer for next year's committee then put your name forward on the night. We hope that most of our members will show up on the night so mark this one down on your calendar. Time and venue have yet to be decided.

05/09/10 - Youghal Triathlon

Well done to Joe Cantwell who took part in last weekend's Youghal triathlon. The triathlon took place on a very blustery day and that made for a tough swim, cycle and run. Joe battled through strongly to finish in 29th position in a time of 1:15:29.

31/08/10 - Mud, Shit, and Misery.

The time of the year where you get to enjoy the unique pain of running through knee high grass, cow shit and flooded fields is fast approaching. Yes, it is cross country racing time! Before you get too excited, there is a down side.....training.

We have laid out the following training schedule to prepare for our attack on the Tipperary cross country scene. Each session will take place in the CBS, except for the Saturday session which will be a long hill run. After last year's fine 2nd last placing in the county novice we are aiming for higher (3rd last).

Monday 6:30 - 7:30
Wednesday 7:00 - 8:00
Thursday 6:00 - 7:00
Friday 6:30 - 7:30
Saturday 9:30 - 11:00

There are 5 training sessions to choose from. This schedule will be starting next week. Try to make as many as possible. We hope to enter teams in all the county races this year. If you want to improve your running then this is how to do it. The first race is on Sunday, October 3rd.

Running Gear - We will be racing under the Nenagh Olympic banner and will be purchasing their racing bibs. Anyone who wants to take part can buy a bib at a reduced price.

30/08/10 - Dublin City Triathlon

The National Championships took place last weekend up in Dublin. 3 members of the club took up the challenge with Shane Scully and Sean Gleeson taking part in the Olympic distance and Ailbhe Carroll taking part in the Super Sprint distance triathlon.

This race attracts the top triathletes from around the country so the going was always going to be tough. It got much tougher for Scully when he punctured out of the race, while well placed, on lap 3 (of 5) in the cycle. Sean Gleeson made it home in a fast time of 2:45:27 which is a season's best for him. Ailbhe Carroll kept up her impressive form by winning the female section of the Super Sprint in a fast time of 1:01. She also placed fourth overall.

27/08/10 - Season Finale

Judgment Day is coming soon....are you ready?

26/08/10 - Limerick Aquathon 3

Congratulations to the 4 Nenagh members who took part in the 3rd Limerick Aquathon on Wednesday evening. This was the final event of the series and it was the longest. The swim was a very choppy 1500m and the run was 3.6km. Eoin Woolley, Ailbhe Carroll, Stephen Nagle and Shane Scully all took part. Ailbhe Carroll picked up a prize for second female overall at the series so well done to her.

23/08/10 - Upcoming Races

Limerick Aquathon - The 3rd and final Limerick aquathon takes place this Wednesday in Killaloe. The distance for this event include a 1500m swim followed by a 4.8km run. It all kicks off at 7 with registration at 6:30.

North Tipp Wheelers Cycle Race - After a short absence, the North Tipp Wheelers races are starting back again. The first race will be on this Thursday at 6:15 and it is the ever popular points race. Meet up at Moynans shop.

23/08/10 - Fenit Triathlon

The Fenit triathlon took place last weekend and a record number of PDs (Personal Disasters) were had by the Nenagh triathletes who took part. A combination of very choppy seas, rough roads, and personal weakness led to a combined club disaster showing. Of course the final placings of 2nd, 5th, 8th (second female), 12th, 13th, and 36th might have you believing that the results were great but the Nenagh men and woman would be very quick to alert you to the falsehood in that remark! 14/08/10 - Caroline Kearney Triathlon

Well done to Ailbhe Carroll who took part in this weekends CK Triathlon run bythe midland tri club. This was Ailbhe's first Olympic distance triathlon and she did very well placing 3rd overall in the women's event. Ailbhe was leading going into the final run but was overtaken by 2 girls on the run. Her time of 2.18.12 was good enough for 41st place overall.

12/08/10 - 3rd Dromineer Triathlon

The 3rd Dromineer triathlon will take place this Saturday, 14th Aug at 9:30. The race consists of a sprint distance triathlon with a 750m swim, 18km bike and 5km run. Each competitor is given a handicap, and everyone is let-off in order of their handicap with the faster competitors going out last. This means that everyone is likely to finish the race together.

The race is very enjoyable and the club provide refreshments after the race. If you haven't tried one yet then we highly recommend that you give it a go. If you want to get used to completing triathlons in a non pressure situation then this is for you!

11/08/10 - Limerick Aquathon 1 Results

Well done to the 6 Nenagh triathletes who took part in the Limerick Duathlon in the Killaloe Activity Centre. The race consisted of 2 races of a 500m swim and 1.2km run. The top 24 in race 1 went on to compete again in race 2.

The races were short and sweet but very intensive. Keith Butler, Kevin Sherlock, Ailbhe Carroll and Shane Scully all made into into the second race for the club so well done to them. Eoin Wooley, who has just returned from his honeymoon, and Stephen Nagle also competed well for the club.

It was great to see club members giving this a go and hopefully we can see more numbers at the next event next Wednesday. It makes for a very good training session and it is only down the road!

31/07/10 - Kilkenny Triathlon

The first TriKilkenny race was held recently on the 24th July. Four club members participated in the event which was held in and around the picturesque locations of the River Nore and Kilkenny Castle. First home for the club was Shane Kelly with Ciaran Moran following a few minutes after.

Also taking part were Graham O' Keeffe and Johnny Meagher. Unfortunately for the two lads as they pushed themselves to the absolute limit, they forget that the run consisted of 2 and a half laps of the circuit. Having done a lap less than required, both men were marked down as DNF for the race.

The second Dromineer triathlon will be taking place on Saturday, July 31st at the usual time of 9:30am sharp. If you haven't taken part before then don't worry, newcomers are always welcome. The race is over a sprint distance and you can do it at your own pace. Only kevin one person takes it seriously, but just ignore him like we all do.

For those of you who would like to take part but don't fancy the swim, then the option of running the first leg is available. If you need a loan of a wetsuit then ask one of the committee members.

Challenge 2: This will be a lake swim from Youghal over to GarryKennedy. This takes place on the evening of Sat 11th at 6:00pm sharp.

Challenge 3: Club Night Out. After the swim we will be having a few pints in Garrykennedy and then it's back into Nenagh for a few more. We will have transport all organised so need to worry about that.

We hope that everyone will make a special effort to be there. Club training will be stopping for a few weeks after so that gives you plenty of time to recover.

On the first day of the Nenagh triathlon sprint series eight eager members turned up in search of bragging rights. After the transition was set-up and the carpet put in place we hit the lake. There was a quick warm up before the siren sounded & the battle to jump on to feet got underway Read More>>
