12/07/08 - Youghal Triathlon
The Youghal sprint triathlon attracted close to 300 competitors on the day. This was a huge number of entrants considering Triathlone was being run on the same day and it really shows how popular the sport is getting around the country. Weather conditons were good on the day with a slight breeze and a calm sea. The course consisted of a 750m sea swim, 20km flat bike course and a 6.5km hilly run course.
6 Nenagh triathletes made the trip to Cork to take up the challenge. Making his debut race for the club was Nikolai from Estonia. Nikolai is only 16 years old and is a champion swimmer in his home country. After borrowing a bike on the day, Nikolai put in a great performance and was 2nd Junior over the finish line in a final position of ..... .
The Nevin brothers Paul and Darren made a welcome return to the racing circuit. After Darrens great performance in his last triathlon much was expected from him, and Darren did not disappoint, coming home in ..... position in a time of....... . Paul finished in ...... in a time of....... .
