On the first day of the Nenagh triathlon sprint series eight eager members turned out to get the first times for the series. After a quick transition setup and the carpet put in place we hit the lake. After a quick warm up the siren was sounded and the battle to jump on to feet got underway.
Scully led out, setting a blistering pace with Sherlock sprinting to keep up. A tough battle was happening behind with O’ Rourke and O’Neill fighting for third position. Some great swims were put in with another good battle between Keith, Colm, Ciaran and Eoin. Scully exited first out of the water and was followed by Sherlock, then O’Rourke , O Neill, Colm ,Keith Ciaran and Eoin.

After some quick transitions the battle continued on the windy bike section . Scully and Sherlock got away from the field with Brian O Neill putting in a great cycle time passing O'Rourke. Keith made up some time and passed Colm, while Eoin passed Ciaran.
Once off the Bike Scully had a four minute lead on the chasing field and after finishing the run had seven. Next home was Sherlock. O’Neill was next in from the bike leg only to be passed by O’ Rourke on the Whiskey Still Hill. Keith Horan put in his best run to date catching O Neill a mile from the finish. Colm and Eoin battled the whole way on the run with Colm just managing to break away in the last 800m.
Everyone enjoyed the racing and the fantastic refreshments afterwards. Sean Gleeson would have been proud!! It will make things very interesting when the time adjustments are put in place for the next race. A date is yet to be set for the next of a three part series.
