Dromineer / Series 2
The second race of the Dromineer triathlon series has come and gone and the results are in. On a typical Irish morning of sunshine and showers it was Paul Scully who was first past the finish line to take the victory. The other podium positions were filled by Michael Brown in second and Ciaran in third
There were 10 eager competitors on the start line of this race, with each looking to get one over their fellow clubmate and do whatever it took to be crowned champion. The race was a handicapped race with each triathlete being given a headstart based on previous times set on the course. The hope was to have everyone finishing the triathlon at the same time. In the end there were just 5 minutes separating the first man home and last man home, so the format worked pretty well.

Stephen Nagle and Ciaran were first off on the swim with Stephen exiting the water first. The chase was on and soon after each triathlete was in the water batttling hard to close the gap. Sighting problems led Andy McLoughlin to do a tour of the lake, he was followed on this tour shortly after by Michael Brown. After the sightseeing was over both men got back on track and headed for shore.

Out on the bike course Brian O'Neill was putting the hammer down and soon was leading the race. Stephen had an eventful time on the bike, taking a wrong turn at the roundabout and then cycling into a ditch on the way home, but he overcame these slight detours to put in a good bike time. Also cycling fast was Paul Scully who came in shortly after Brian into transition.

Paul took an early lead on the run and held this lead to the finish line to finish in a time of 1:09:20. Storming through the field on the final run was Michael Brown who put in the fastest run of the day to finish second in a time of 1:09:20. Ciaran put in a solid effort in all 3 disciplines to take third, improving his flat time from the previous week by 3 minutes.

The top 3 were followed home by Brian O'Neill, Andy 'The Stallion' McLoughlin, Keith Horan, and Colm Glynn. Paddy last went to the sorry figures of Kevin Sherlock and Shane Scully who both crossed the line together. Kevin won the pie eating competition afterwards so this made up for the lacklustre performance on the day. Congrats to Kevin.

Brian O'Rourke was on time keeping duties for the day and after a few quick calculations we had a final run down of times.
