Brian Boru Triathlon

The Brian Boru triathlon is one of the toughest sprint distance triathlons on the triathlon circuit in Ireland. Located in Killaloe, the race is on Nenagh's doorstep making it hard to avoid. There were 9 Nenagh triathletes up to the challenge on this occasion and each survived the test.

First home for the club was Keith Butler who described the race as being 'murder'. Keith put in a strong run to gain a top 10 finish. He came 9th in a time of 1:28:22. Keith was followed home shortly after by Michael Brown who is starting to find his triathlon racing legs. Michael broke into the top 20 with an excellent 17th place in a time of 1:33:27.

Denis O'Meara was using this race as preparation for next month's half ironman in Kenmare. Thehilly course made a tough test but Denis battled through to finish in 25th place. Next in for the club was Kieth Horan who was the star performer of the day. Keith had a fantastic race in only his second attempt at triathlon. Keith put in a great bike and run time to come home in 71st place.

Noel O'Meara was next to cross the line for the club. Noel struggled slightly in the swim compared to his usual high standards. He recovered well to come home in 114th place. Colm Glynn, Ciaran Moran pushed hard to the end and were staisifed with their efforts on the day. Both are making very good progress this year. Anthony Sherlock was apprehensive about the swim at the start of the race but he got through it and there was no stopping him after that.

Shane Scully also took part and was leading the race off the bike but had to retire from the run section due to injury.

Well done to all who took part in the race today and don't worry your legs will heal with time!

Thanks to everyone who showed up today and well done to all. The next Dromineer triathlon will take place sometime in August and we hope ye can all make it to that race.
