Race Reports
Congratulations to all the Nenagh triathletes who took part in the 1st Limerick duathlon. Weather conditions were cold but that didn't stop our triathletes from featuring high up in the results. 6 club members took part in the race and a total of ninety competitors lined up on the starting line. This event serves as a testing warm up for the triathlon season ahead.
The normal race distance of 3.8km run, 16km bike and 3.8km run had to be cut slightly shorter due to the poor weather. The run was cut to a 3.5km run. Shane Scully manged to sneak his way into first place on the day, passing David Beary from Limerick on the finishing line. Both Paddy and Justin were competing in duathlons for the first time. Both had great races. Paddy in particular had a very strong first outing as he broke the hour mark for this race.
Kevin Sherlock managed to improve his time from last year by nearly 10 minutes. Michael Brown also had a strong showing and came in with the leading group after the first run. Only a slow transition prevented Michael from top a 3 finish. Ailbhe Carroll was looking to start off the season with a bang. She certainly did this when her bicycle chain snapped halfway through the bike route! Ailbhe is chasing a place on the Irish team so this sort of luck is definitely not needed.
The final positions of the Nenagh triathletes were as follows:

- Michael Brown - 7th
- Kevin Sherlock - 16th
- Patrick Kenneally - 39th
- Justin Cottrell - 63rd
- Ailbhe Carroll - DNF
