Nenagh Triathlon Club

The Nenagh Run Series consists of a 5km run around Nenagh. It will take place over a 4 week period every Wednesday night at 7pm. The 2012 series starts on March 28th (last night is April 18th). This run series caters for all levels of fitness.

 

Race 1: Time Prediction

The format of this will involve predicting a time that you will run or walk the 5km distance in. The winner on the night will be the person that guesses the closest time to their actual time recorded on the night. This run is to be done without a watch. We will be keeping time on the night so you don't need one! You can run this as fast or as slow as you want.

Race 2: Countdown To Zero

The format of race 2 will involve predicting a time that you will run the 5km distance in. We will then start the clock at 40 minutes and countdown to 0. If you predicted 30 minutes then you will leave once the clock counts down from 40 to 30.

This means that the slower runners will go first and the faster runners will go last. The winner will be the person that crosses the finish line closest to when the clock strike 0:00. If everyone predicts correctly this should mean that everyone will finish very close to each other at the end.

Race 3: Lucky Dip

The format of this one is similar to race 1. Everyone starts at the same time; the difference is that the winners on the night will be picked out of hat based on finishing position. If no.5 was drawn out of the hat and you came fifth overall then you will win a prize.

Race 4: Team Challenge

The format for this race is similar to race 1. Everyone starts at the same time and you must predict what time you are going to do the 5km in. The twist with this race is that we will be dividing everyone into teams of 3. The team with the lowest combined time difference at the end will be the winners.

For example, if you predict 23:00 and you race it in 22:50 then the difference is 10 seconds. If the other 2 people on your team have time differences of 5 seconds and 70 seconds then your combined score is 85 seconds. You can partner with people you know if you want or we can create the teams for you.
