06/07/08 - Carrick Triathlon
A torrential downpour and flooding greeted the Nenagh triathletes as they made their way to the starting line at this years Carrick sprint distance triathlon. The Suir river was very strong and led to an extremely fast swim and a chaotic start. The weather improved during the race and the times for the distance were very fast. There was a very strong field at this event with many of Irelands top competitors making the trip to Tipp. This made the race very exciting for spectators to watch.
5 Nenagh triathletes braved the weather conditions on the day and it was Keith Butler who was first Nenagh man home in 27th place in a time of 1:02:13. This was probably Keith's strongest performance to date as he was highly placed for most of the race and he clocked a very fast final time for the distance. Denis O'Meara also had a fine race and was the next Nenagh man home in a time of 1:07:14, then Michael O'Dwyer 1:08:03 then Joe Cantwell 1:09:53, then Kevin Sherlock 1:12:28 and then Anthony Sherlock in a time of 1:18:43.
